As it happens, a couple of weeks ago I taped an episode of On the Road with Penguin Classics on Shirley Jackson—the show’s host and I visited North Bennington to talk about important places in Jackson’s life. He managed to get us access to the Everett Mansion, which is now being renovated as a luxury hotel. The episode has just dropped today as a “Halloween special.” I’m now more convinced than ever that the mansion was a model for Hill House! Listen below:
