One of my teacher-friends likes to say that in a marriage only ONE of you can be high-maintenance--and only ONE of you can "freak out" at a time. We usually talk about this around the time we are teaching "Macbeth" (pointing out how the Macbeth's marriage functions). I much prefer the harmonies of the Ramseys to the murderous Macbeths.
