I read this first as an English major undergrad, then as a 40 something, now at 65 I feel fully equipped to understanding Mrs. Ramsey. Reading Stream of Consciousness also so easy -- like breathing now- -of course this is how we live and think. Of course.

Alas, I haven’t reached the point where it’s easy. Plodding through the early portions of this novel, I’m having an experience similar to what I had when I read Mrs. Dalloway. The first time through, it was a matter of just trying to get SOME idea. I plan to read this at least twice, and hope to have an experience similar to what I had with Dalloway: the characters will become increasingly familiar, and I’ll end up liking the whole thing a lot.
